Standardized treatments for wounds have been a mainstay in WOCN nursing. Many practitioners have their favorite "recipe" for success. However, certain wound and skin products can have detrimental effects and can be harmful for the cancer patient. For example, use of silver containing products may inadvertently increase the dose of external beam radiation if left in place. In addition, newer chemotherapy drugs have unique interactions with skin and nails they can become worse with standard interventions.

This poster presentation will review some of the specific interactions cancer therapies have with some wound products. The poster will also contain a brief review of skin and nail disorders commonly seen with the next generation of chemotherapy drugs, along with some recommended interventions for these disorders.
