At your fingertips: Creating an institutional-based web site to address wound, ostomy and continence issues

There are many challenges in the daily care of a patient with wound, ostomy or continence issues. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have all of the educational, informational and supportive information right at your fingertips?

This poster presentation will provide the blue print and sample pages of a web site created at one institution for the use of their WOCNs, staff nurses, physicians and supportive personnel. Links to educational tools are now available at the click of a button. Referral resource names and numbers are available instantly. Links to sources such as nutrition support, physical therapy are ready for viewing.

Patients have the capability to view a version of this website, giving them access to support group information, up dated cancellation information for support group, and links to the support group newsletter. Patients can also get referral information for continence issues. Patients and visitors also have quick access links to manufacturers and suppliers of products used for ostomy, continence or wound issues.

Benefits of this web site will be reviewed, as well as information we've learned in the development of this project.
