Biographical Sketch:
Dot has been a registered nurse for 33 years, and has spent 29 of those years dedicated to the practice of ostomy and wound care.  She received her nursing degree in 1976, and in 1980 received her Enterostomal Therapy (now Wound, Ostomy and Continence) training from Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, PA.  Dot has maintained her board certification in ostomy and wound care through the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Association (CWCN, COCN) since then, and completed her board certification from the American Academy of Wound Management (CWS) in 1994.

Dot has had an exciting and blessed career allowing her to practice in virtually all care settings including acute, home, and long term care and most currently outpatient wound care since 2001.  She also spent 7 years in industry working in medical supply as well as clinical support for Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceuticals. She is currently the Director of Wound Care at Osceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee, Florida. 

Dot has authored and co-authored several articles, book chapters and posters related to wound care and wound healing, and is co-editor of the journal, Today’s Wound Clinics.  She is a co-chair of The Symposium on Advanced Wound Care and Wound Healing Society as well as being on the planning committee and faculty.  She is also on the planning committees and faculty for the Wound Certification Prep Course and is also on the speaker’s bureau for several manufacturing organizations.

 

Dot is a member of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society, The Florida Association of Enterostomal Therapists, The American Academy of Wound Management, The College of Certified Wound Specialists, The Wound Healing Society and was a founding board member and held the office of Treasurer and President of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care.
