28-year old male presented with a  full thickness injury

Anterior aspect of the right lower leg

•  Day 5 post injury, No treatment given at this time
•  Wound Measures 8cm x 1.2cm x 100% w/eschar
•  No drainage
•  Periwound erythema measures 2 cm circumferential

  Painful to touch (4)

Young active male, needed to continue working, and Activities of Daily LIving.

Applied  acrylic dressing for four days. After four days, drainage was too great.  Applied  High performance foam. Both of these dressings allowed the patient to resume showering daily, going to work and he did not have to do daily wound care.

After two weeks treatment with  foam dressing. One dressing each week the full thickness wound healed.

Conclusion

Full Thickness Wound Healed  after 18 days of Treatment using two specialty dressings

4 Days used clear acrylic dressing

14 Days used High Performance  foam

The Combination of the two dressings  provided consistent moist protective healing environment. The reduction of dressing changes resulted in less wound disruption, improved the patients satisfaction, comfort level and reduced his treatment costs.  The patient was  able to shower and work  without disruption of his Activities of Daily Living.
