Choosing the Right Skin Protection Paste for a Cancer Hospital

Purpose

 

To show how the Skin Integrity Team at Moffitt trialed and chose a skin protection paste that would fit the various skin needs of a cancer population of patients

Objectives

 

  1. show the differences in skin pastes
  2. help the attendee to see how they would choose a skin paste for their patient population

 

Content Outline

 

  1. got approval to trial 4 skin pastes
  2. met with reps from 3 companies
  3. trial materials; a) product instruction sheet, b)evaluation sheet c) product to trial
  4. Method: announcement made to consult WOC/ET team to obtain trial materials:
  5. handed out above materials when consulted by staff of a pt w/ diarrhea, leaking G/J tubes, or broken blistered skin in bone marrow transplant(BMT) unit
