Biographical Sketch: Jan Colwell has been a certified wound ostomy and continence advanced practice nurse for over 30 years, practicing in an university based acute care practice setting. She supervises and delivers ostomy and wound care services in both the acute care and outpatient setting. Jan is the immediate past president of the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society, she is a member of the WOCN's National Conference Planning Committee as well as a member of the WOCN's reimbursement task force. A co editor of the text book on fecal and urinary diversions, she is also the author of numerous journal articles and book chapters. She has lectured nationally and internationally, most recently serving on the World Health Organization's committee to develop a classification tool for use on determining disability in the IBD patient population. Jan is also a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
