Biographical Sketch: Joanna Burgess practices as a CWOCN in an acute care setting where she enjoys a full scope practice. Her passion to become a WOCN stems from her 43 year history of living as an ostmate after having had bladder cancer at the age of three. She is a graduate of the Dr. Vodder School of Lymphatic Therapy and has worked with and counseled lymphedema patients since 1995. She co-founded a private lymphedema clinic in North Carolina and currently is a private consultant and speaker throughout North Carolina educating medical professionals and patients about lymphedema and ways to manage and prevent lymphedema.
