In surgical departments, trauma cases are the most common presentation cases and amongst these skin traumas such as laceration, abrasion and contusion are frequently seen. In addition, bone fracture and tendon rupture are also frequently accompanied by skin injuries, so the treatment of skin injuries is an unavoidable problem. However, there are no definite guidelines for the treatment of these skin injuries, and many physicians are only conducting treatment by watching and simulating the treatment given by senior physicians. The mechanism of wound healing has been well studied, but there has been no proposal of therapy which applies this mechanism to real skin injuries.
The full poster presentation will detail the treatment methods for skin injuries in our clinic. Examples of suggested treatment and propose therapeutic method which does not delay wound healing will be illustrated for simple lacerations and contusions, animal bites and skin grazes. The full poster will illustrate five case histories and a discussion around the selection of the most appropriate wound dressings will be given.
