RESULTS OF TESTING A NEW TWO-PIECE UROSTOMY SYSTEM

Bakground:

Many patients with urostomy have problems with peristomal skin. They often happens that the pouch they use do not keep long enough. Coloplast has developed a new improved two-pice urostomy system for patients with urostomy. We were interested in how the new product be retained, including the irritated skin.

Methods:

To testing engaged 20 patients with a new formed urostomy. Assesed are:

·              Wafer (simplicity of use, safety, kindness towards skin, adapting to skin wrinkle, resistance on erosion of secretion, ability that absorbs superfluous moisture).

·              Pouch (simplicity of attaching, discretion, safety, simplicity of emptying).

·              System as a whole.

The peristomal skin was assessed according to DET score (discolouration, erosion, tissue overgrowth).

Results:

Testing still goes on, that is why results will be introduced on poster. We wil introduce our conclusions as well also at that time.
