Evaluation and treatment of blisters in peristomal area of Ileal conduit. Patient measured and fitted for parastomal hernia belt, after using belt developed several large fluid filled blisters which ruptured and sloughed, new blisters formed so healing was in different stages.Evaluation and reevaluation to determine etiology of problem, eliminated hyperplasia, friction from hernia belt. Decided to "make it simple" and limit products in peristomal area. Patient and spouse (retired RN) were cooperatative and diligent in skin care , application of karaya-seal and appliance, wear time 4-5 days.Tracking healing with photos was positive reinforcement that we were on the right track. Using a product that was secure pouch seal and resistant to being dissolved by effluent proved an effective remedy.
