A 79-year-old female suffered from colon tumor rupture with peritonitis. The laparotomy, tumor excision and ileostomy had carried out on this patient. Because of wound infection, the wound care refered to open care and normal saline dressing per 8 hours after surgery. However, the care methods had caused pain and bleeding for the patient. For this reason, the healthcare providers would like to improve wound’s healing and decrease hospital stay. Thus we tried to use the Aquacel Ag, Aquacel Ag SURGICAL and DIY butterfly-like tapes for wound care. It is widely believe that the wound size was 20 × 4.5 × 2.5cm until healing on September 3rd, 2013 and no bleeding. In addition, pain scale from 8 point decreased to zero point. As a result, the patient had felt comfortable and satisfaction in treated process. Also, the family’s panic and anxiety to wound care were disappeared. Besides, the nursing hour decreases one hour per day and work accomplishment elevates. The author expected that through sharing of this nursing care experience, it could provide nurses with a better understanding of the needs of these clients, and as a future reference on clinical care.
